Four saxophones playing music from four centuries

Saxophone quartet Persiflage draws from a diverse and often unexpected repertoire, whether taking a fresh look at traditional favourites or interpreting upbeat swing-style numbers. Recent successes include appearances at Belvoir Castle, New College Nottingham and Stapleford Park Country House Hotel, together with a variety of private, charitable and community functions. Another milestone has been the release of ‘Time Signature’, the foursome’s debut CD.

Our play-list extends from madrigals and traditional folk tunes to light swing and seasonal favourites. In addition to providing background music for private and social functions, we have a regular spot at various local country fairs and have performed at Nottingham University and at New College Nottingham. We have also shared concert platforms with choral groups including the Bridge Singers, Radcliffe Ladies Choir and the Bluecoat Singers.

Christmas is a busy time for us and we have been invited to take part in ‘Belvoir Fantasia’ at Belvoir Castle for the last two years. We also play for the annual carol service for members of Stapleford Park Country Club in Leicestershire each year and at the Christmas street market in the Lincolnshire village of Heighington. In addition, however, we also like to stage our own Christmas concert: in 2008 we put on an Advent Concert in the parish church in Staunton-in-the-Vale which raised about £1,000 for the tiny church in the neighbouring village of Kilvington.
